About

Catherine started her career in art studying Aesthetics at Durham University, graduating with a BAhons in Philosophy and Classics. Her particular interest was in modern and conceptual art, however she was determined to develop her painting in a very different manner. She took up a place at a traditional atelier in Florence. This gave her a solid base of draughtsmanship on which to develop her own style.

Catherine has always painted animals, she was born in Aberdeenshire onto a working farm and from an early age sketched the menagerie that surrounded her. She is developing into a well known sporting artist, painting subjects as diverse as western rodeo, stalking in the Highlands, bullfighting in Spain. She is drawn to the movement and emotion of the subjects she paints, conveying the power, grace or speed of the animal in rapid, broad brushstrokes.
